MGGT Gymnast Bios

Ashley Song

I am Ashley Song.  I am a senior this year, and this is my sixth year on the Maple Grove Gymnastics Team.  I first started gymnastics classes when I was two years old at Twin City Twisters.  When I was five, I was selected for the TOPS team at TCT. I competed as a TCT gymnast until 2010.  At that time, I decided to leave TCT and started competing for Jon Anstett's Gymnastics.  I was on team there until I was twelve and went to MGGT in seventh grade.  Being in gymnastics for 15 years has taught me how to push myself and to work with others to achieve the same goals.  The different coaches and teammates I've had in my gymnastics career have all been very influential people that have shaped my life in a very positive way.  I can't wait to build more friendships, and I hope this season will be as great as the past ones have been.  GO CRIMSON!!

Sarah Abeln

Hi my name is Sarah Abeln and I’ve been on the team for 3 years and I’m a senior this year. Before I was in high school gymnastics, I did excel at Twin City Twisters. My favorite event is vault and my least favorite event is bars. Gymnastics has taught me so much like time management, being responsible and being a team player. I’m so excited for this season and I’m looking forward to laughing with my teammates and winning meets of course! Go MGGT!!

Carys Turner

My name is Carys Turner. I am a senior and a captain on the maple grove gymnastics team and this is my second year on the team. I started gymnastics when I was two at a gym in Alabama where I was born called Huntsville gymnastics center. I trained there until 2012 when I moved here to Minnesota. At the time I was a level 6 and decide to join the club team at Gleason's Maple Grove. I eventually made it to level 8 and in my last year of club I was able to win bars at the regional gymnastics meet. I then decided that high school would be a better fit for me. Last year was an incredibly successful and amazing first season with the high school team and I can't wait to see what we can accomplish this year!

Emma Eungard

My name is Emma Eungard and I am a junior this year. This will be my third year on the Maple Grove gymnastics team. Before joining the high school team I did gymnastics at Gleasons Maple Grove for about 11 years. I hope this season we can be as successful as we were last year and I can’t wait to see how it goes!

Mackenzie McClellan

I’m Mackenzie McClellan. I’m a junior at maple grove senior high. I started gymnastics in 2nd grade at TCT. I moved to maple grove in 7th grade and joined the gymnastics team. I was very anxious at first but I was welcomed with open arms and I couldn’t be happier that I joined 5 years ago. I strive to be friendly and have a positive attitude. I hope this year will be as great as the past 5!! So excited!!
